Summary

In the ARBORICULTURE SECTOR work and employment are getting bigger; the demand for tree expert is as high as never before, enterprises keep recruiting although there is an economic crisis.Yet, the difficulties encountered with recruitment and the lack of skilled and unskilled workers or when matching qualifications of the workers with new market demands and regulations; the need for valorisation and recognition of skills and competencies acquired on the workplace and the necessary shift of job position for aging workers are all crucial issues for the sector. The 6 project partners share the same considerations, therefore to address the aforementioned critical points they have worked out underpinning synergies and identified transferable expertise.
TREE project is geared to structure and adapt former projects’ outcomes and to transfer an innovative ICT-based platform as a solution focusing on the acquisition of key competences, on the employability of the applicant and on the transparency and recognition of the qualifications and competences.
The partnership is a mix of Vocational Training Institutions and Arboriculture Professionals Organisations with competencies to support the implementation of the ICT-based platform (comprising SRL and a vocational assessment positioning tool) and guarantee the continuity and sustainability of the scheme.
Specific objectives and related outcomes:
_ Make the job-related arboriculture market visible and promote the acquisition of key competencies, by transfering former project results to structure a Resource Base and Skills Portfolio as the backbone to the core of the project;
_ Check the employability of the applicants and up-grade the qualifications of the workers, by transfering and adpating an ICT-based ‘Entry Test’ for the implementation of the innovative online system (SRL and Vocational Assessment Positionning Tool).
_ Improve the transparency and recognition of the skills and competences; by pilot testing the innovative online system with 60 applicants, getting face to face individual feedbacks on the validity and quality of the training or certification recommendations.
_ Raise sustainably the number of skilled workers;
To ensure greater impact TREE project will integrate stakeholders in a Quality Certification Board and in a Territorial Consultancy Expert Group to validate and integrate the outcomes; it will also draw up an exploitation and sustainability plan to foster the continuity of the online system and the associated scheme.The online platfom structured in the TREE project is geared to impact the VET system, providing harmonization and transparency of the Certifications at european level and to impact Long Life Learning, facilitating access to VET and up-grading qualifications in the Arboriculture sector.
